Press ReleasesDate: 12/28/2009 Lincoln Man Celebrates 43rd Birthday with a Blood Drive Party! While most adults typically dread turning another year older, Lincoln volunteer blood donor, Carl Mesecher, is using his 43rd birthday to highlight the need for blood this time of year. The big day is December 28 and he is asking friends, family and co-workers to join him at the Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB), 100 N. 84th St., to donate blood. Carl’s motivation comes from knowing how NCBB’s volunteer blood donors make a lifesaving impact in the community. The NCBB provides all the blood needed by patients at BryanLGH Medical Center, Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center and Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as eight other southeast Nebraska hospitals. “I want people to also know how easy it is and how good it feels to be able to save lives,” he explained. “I thought, what a special way to celebrate another year of my life by giving another birthday, Christmas, or anniversary to someone else.” The “Birthday Blood Drive Party” is scheduled from 10:30 am -2:30 pm, Monday, Dec. 28, at the NCBB’s 100 N. 84th Street collection site. Appointments can be made by calling (402) 486-9414. Walk-ins are also welcome. Birthday cheesecake will be served in addition to the famous NCBB cookies and juice.
